Maui Weddings

Getting married in Maui is an exciting and romantic time.  The ocean, beaches, flowers and sunsets make this special time even more romantic.  Here are some Maui wedding tips to consider.

  • Choose your wedding dates with a couple of "back-up" dates in mind.  Some dates are more popular than others.
  • Find exceptional Maui accommodations for your stay.  It is important to be staying in a clean, comfortable and safe area during this special time in your life.
  • Choose a Maui Wedding Planner.  This is well worth it if you aren't familiar with Maui and what it has to offer.  Be sure to really research your Maui Wedding Planner.  Check their website for addresses, contact names and phone numbers.  It wouldn't hurt to find a company that belongs to the Better Business Bureau.  Make sure the planner answers the phone or returns your calls promptly.
  • The Hawaii State Department of Health has Hawaii Marriage Licenses.  The license must be filled out and turned in by the bride and groom with valid IDs when issued.  The cost of the marriage license is $60.00 cash due when license is issued.
  • The beaches in Maui are public, so having a ceremony there is fine.  Just remember that the beaches are more crowded on the weekends, so a weekday ceremony might be better.  If you want a private wedding ceremony, think about using a hotel location or private residence.  There is now a $20.00 fee for using the beach for a wedding ceremony.
  • Consider some back-up plans due to unforgiving weather.
  • Use plenty of sunscreen so you don't have a sunburn or tan lines in the wrong place for the wedding day.
  • Using visual examples is a great way to show how you expect things to be for your wedding.
  • Take important things on as carry-on items when flying.  Luggage can get lost!
  • The "Hawaiian Wedding Song" is often used during weddings in Hawaii.  It is a very beautiful song that touches many people.  Find a traditional version, it is much better than the Elvis or Hollywood mixes.
